My MFA thesis show focused on a series of, “unusual female performers,” fabricated from real life performers and fantasy. Each character is advertised in a hand-drawn poster that illustrates their unusual physical attribute or learned performance. A series of 10 posters, a 30 foot 3-dimensional mural, and 5 actors interacted with the crowd as real life representations of the characters I created. The series focuses on formal issues such as line, pattern, color, and typography, along with concerns for process, ornamentation, and word play.
